  Dieting - The 'No Diet' Diet

Dieting doesnt work. Cmon, if it did, wed all be size 8 and running around in our bikinis this summer, wouldnt we? And were not.

Youre probably like me. You think youve tried them all. I found a fun web site called Faddiet.com First one on the list, The Cabbage Soup Diet. Remember that one? I tried it when I was a teenager along with my mother. The actual soup tasted pretty good, and each day we were allowed certain other foods. Its all there on the site. We could eat all the cabbage soup we wanted. It helps to like cabbage soup.

Most of the site is totally humorous. They do list the basics of the diets, but its funny. The Scarsdale Diet is listed, along with the Grapefruit Diet and the Caveman Diet. The Caveman Diet part was really funny. On Monday it says, Breakfast: Ugh, me hate first day of week. I hungry. Have you ever heard of the Russian Air Force Diet? Me, neither, but its there. Then theres a link with 50 Diet Tips. Go see for yourself!

But, like I said, dieting doesnt work. Why is that? When we think of a diet, we think of it as a short-term solution to a long-term problem. See the difficulty? We cant just hop on a diet and get off when were done. No. It doesnt work that way. Trust me, Ive tried it. Ive been dieting ever since I was a teenager. Im 45 now and Ive learned my lesson.

After getting up to 210 lbs several years ago, I was frustrated with dieting and frustrated with myself. I thought there was something I was doing wrong. Why didnt the diet work? The answer is obvious. No matter what diet I did or how successful I was, I kept going back to the same old eating habits eventually. Now Im down to 130 lbs and Ive been there for several years.

How did I do it? I stopped dieting and changed the way I eat for the rest of my life. I stopped eating the things I knew put weight on me and started eating only what I can stay thin with. You know your body. You can do this. Consult a nutritionist if you want, too. I also started exercising. I hate exercising, so I do yoga and I swim. Sometimes I take a dance class. My rule is that I exercise for at least half an hour, preferably an hour, at least three times a week. That finally worked.
